The mechanic is simple and merciless. Draw 10 tiles, press the board down and the timer button to start the timer, and race to place a word before it pops. Stack letters to alter existing words mid-game, turning a word that works for your opponent into one that does not, then reset the timer and watch them sweat. First to use all their tiles wins. Unless the board pops on your turn. Then you just lose. Can't make a word on your turn? Grab two extra tiles as a penalty and pass the board back to your opponent.
